I'm getting spammed by various entities, offering me XYZ% off iTunes purchases of the latest batch of music by such-and-such artist, which is no different from last year's batch of music from the previous remix of the year before. Honestly... I don't care who's this week's beard-wearing whiny guy who just wants his girl, nor am I interested in the soul singer with the hair extensions, the most recent reiteration of what Gloria Estefan did back in the 90s, the rap guy named after a child's babble, nor the country band with the photogenic white girl backed up by rednecks in flannel shirts. We're past the point of saturation and underwater.
With all the surveillance I get from iTunes, Fecesbook, Amazon, Google, and all the rest, you'd think they would be able to better tailor the spam to what I want: progressive rock, film scores, and audiobooks. But no... this is that weird place where advertising an unwanted product overrules serving the consumers. And I'm not going to invest in a product if most of my dollar is going to support advertisers who push this bland, repetitive crap instead of unique and interesting work by real artists.
